Dr. Cristina Bateman, DPT
UWS Physical Therapist
Cristina is a Long Island native who earned her Bachelors and Doctoral degrees at Northeastern University. As a student, she received several scholarships and distinctions honoring her service to the community and commitment to the physical therapy profession. Her passion for advocacy for and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction began there, and has only grown since. She has since completed several post-graduate trainings through the Herman and Wallace institute and plans to pursue her Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification in the near future.
Clinically, Cristina’s areas of interest include pelvic pain conditions (dyspareunia, vulvodynia, endometriosis, pudendal neuralgia, coccydynia, interstitial cystitis), sexual dysfunction, postpartum rehabilitation, birthing preparation, bowel and bladder dysfunction, and complex chronic pelvic girdle, hip, and/or low back pain. She takes an interdisciplinary and full body approach to treating all conditions and believes in treating the individual rather than the body part. She cares deeply about the destigmatization of pelvic function/dysfunction and strives to make “uncomfortable” conversations relaxed and reassuring. There is no such thing as “TMI” in her office.
Outside of the clinic, Cristina can be found playing guitar, spending time with friends, exploring Brooklyn, and staying active. Her favorite ways to get moving are pilates, walking/running/hiking, and yoga. She loves to try new group fitness classes and listen to live music!
